Our Ethos & Aspirations

Legacy Design Studio is dedicated to making a significant and lasting impact on the design community. Our ethos is rooted in generosity, innovation, and the pursuit of excellence. We strive to provide educational resources that are not only accessible but also of the highest quality, helping to elevate the collective expertise within the design industry. This approach defines our approach to our various products and services as Legacy Design Studio is not just aimed at providing educational resources to the design industry but also to be an active participant within it.

Our Products & Services

Legacy Design Studio is currently executing Stage 1 of a 9 stage business plan through which it aspires to develop long term industry leadership as both an educator as well as a participant within the design community. The Agenda of Legacy Design studio is to increase the accessibility of high quality educational resources, developing business models to increase the impact that designers can have, and providing design excellence throughout the range of products and services offered by our Studio. The product and service offerings for Stage 1 of Legacy Design Studio are as follows:

Educational Resources

Legacy Design Studio is dedicated to providing a range of free and paid educational resources aimed at elevating the skill sets from a beginner to expert level in architectural digital modelling, visualisation, and parametric design, as well as photography and videography workflows. We hope to make these resources as clear and succinct as possible to elevate the skillsets of the industry as a whole. Read through our courses page to preview the library of resources that Legacy currently offers. Through these resources we also aspire to embrace a multidisciplinary approach, extending our teaching to include elements of fashion and industrial design. This broad perspective helps our students become versatile designers whose skills can transition across various design fields.

Patreon

We aim to release as many valuable resources to the community in a way that is as accessible as possible. Ideally we would not charge for any educational resources or guidance, however for obvious reasons, we would not be able to sustainably offer anything to the community without some form of monetisation strategy. Long term we hope to share our resources as freely as possible by building up a community of patrons as well as generating revenues from our associated physical product ranges that would directly contribute to our educational offerings.

Consultations

Legacy will seek to set up a consultation service to allow our community to receive guidance directed to their specific needs. This service is aimed at supporting educational development, these consultations are intended to deepen understanding and improve practical skills, rather than for professional collaboration.

Product Ranges

Legacy Design Studio is excited to introduce a range of design tools which form part of our holistic approach to supporting the growth and development of the design community. We aim to offer innovative design tools to the community that feel intuitive, efficient, and seamlessly integrate into enthusiast and professional workflows to empower designers by significantly enhancing their creative capabilities and efficiency. We recognize the challenges and limitations that designers often face with conventional tools and aim to provide tools to the design community that are as accessible and satisfying to our community of creatives and design professionals.

Tool & Equipment Suggestions

Legacy Design Studio may provide direct guidance related to tools & equipment that we use in our own workflows or more generally with tools that we feel qualified to provide guidance on. We feel this forms part of our broader educational offerings. We hope that this can provide clarity and cut through the deliberately confusing hype around products related to the design community so that we can contribute to you making better, more informed decisions. We adamantly aspire to remain impartial, honest and ethical in advice we may make, regardless of whether we are affiliated with any brand, receive any benefits from a sponsorship or are remunerated through an affiliates program. If we do receive any form of remuneration from this we will endeavour to be open and upfront about this.

Artwork

We offer a range of artwork that explore our design and research agendas. These Artworks are explorations of our own design interests, creating a dynamic synergy between teaching and creative inquiry. They are intended to demonstrate the physical application of our design tasks and act as inspiration as well as a tangible lasting offering that will not become obsolete over time like the design research. These will be our enduring legacy of the various course offerings.

Fashion & Apparel

Legacy Design Studio intends to contribute to shared knowledge and resources that branch into other disciplines. In this case Legacy seeks to offer basic fashion & apparel as the first step into the industry. Legacy shares the same attention to detail and quality in these offerings as it does in all of its endeavours. The first fashion offerings are centred around comfort and everyday wear which will support the research and development of more niche, innovative offerings that Legacy intends to research, innovate and share disciplinary knowledge through.

Notes on the Protection of the Term “Architect”

The Architects Act 1991 (Victoria) protects the use of the term Architect or Architectural Services allowing it to only be used by those that are registered with the ARBV (Architects Registration Board of Victoria). According to the ARBV “The use of the title ‘architect’ and use of any derivatives of the word ‘architect’ or ‘architectural’ are only restricted where they relate to services provided in the built environment, such as those relating to the design, documentation, planning, and construction of buildings. These words can still be used more broadly when they cannot be confused with the provision of architectural services… a person may use the word ‘architectural’ to describe the supply of goods in connection with architecture, such as architectural photography, architectural visualisation etc”. Furthermore “ Graduates must always ensure that in referring to their graduate status they are providing an accurate statement of fact. They must take all necessary steps to avoid any confusion that they are a registered architect when they are not”

Legacy Design Studio & its Founder Jasper currently make no assertion to offer architectural services or be a registered architect. Jasper is a Graduate of Architecture holding a Bachelor and Masters Degree from an accredited University. Moreover, the “modelling & visualisation for Architects Megacourse” does not represent itself to be architectural services, they differentiate themselves as education resources for modelling & visualisation or BIM documentation, not as the services themselves and respects and complies with the strict laws protecting the use of the term architect and architectural Services. If you have any questions or comments regarding this you may direct your enquiries via email to info@legacydesignstudio.com.au

Staff

Stage 1 of Legacy Design Studio’s 9-stage organisational very deliberately focuses on lean operations by its founder, Jasper. Jasper is currently the only team member of Legacy Design Studio and is responsible for setting up the infrastructure and cultivating the reputation to allow Legacy to progressively expand its impact on the broader design community. Currently, he manages everything from Business Planning, Product Product Design, Course Coordination, Web Development, Videograph, Video Editing, Design & Fitout of Offices & Sets, Marketing & Social Media Management, ensuring seamless commerce integration between services, customer & community support etc.
